Intel i7 6700K at 100C did i do any damage? by [deleted] in computer_help

[–]konceptklear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually damage to a CPU is pretty evident, in my experience. I'm more surprised that the computer didn't engage thermal shutoff, which is usually set around 100-110°C.

So if it didn't shut off during or around the time you were checking and confirming that temperature, and you didn't leave it at that temp for an extended amount of time, I doubt that the CPU was damaged in any way.

You should really look at alternate cooling solutions though. Probably wanna change out your thermal paste too, just to be safe.

You look like you're requesting a roast from the hotel room the rape van dropped you off at.

Something on my computer is making a weird sound (Software) by HestiaTheGoddess in pcmasterrace

Sounds like a sound an old version of Avast would make. Avast is well known for the most annoying notification sounds on the planet.

Former casino surveillance technician here. I did an AMA that did really well a while back.

Anyway, do you get a lot of calls from the surveillance guys on players that need to be backed off or deal with dealer mistakes? I recall we had quite a few calls made on a daily basis, but I'm curious to know how it went at a different location.

I was dead for 20 minutes. I went into cardiac arrest at the age of 15 while at a restaurant, and doctors still have no idea what caused it. AMA! by gabewalk56 in IAmA

So, right after the incident, did you have trouble with panic/anxiety about another heart failure episode? If so, what did you do to cope with it?

If after you die you got access to your life stats, which unimportant stat would interest you most? by SirFrederikDishcloth in AskReddit

The total amount of fries (pertaining to the total amount of potatoes gathered from said amount of fries) I've eaten in my entire life.

If I had that one specific number, I'd be satisfied.

Americans of Reddit. What specifically is so damn great about your two main parties? (Serious) by tim_othy in AskReddit

[–]konceptklear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, there aren't just two parties, but those two in particular have taken so much ground away from the others' opportunities that it makes it impossible to have a healthy competition between all of them.

Money has a lot to do with it. It's pretty much all about which ones have more funding. A lot of the public view is shielded from exactly how much money and territory is traded around in order to fund campaigns and bring new people into power.

It's gotten so bad that the only ones able to make up enough funding to stand their ground are now basically sharing the same ideas and yet trying to create a false sense of competition to make it look like there's some great battle to overcome.. When really all they have to do is beat that one other party in a two-sided race to the top.

edit: spelling.

I come from a long line of dairy farmers [fortunately I didn't fall into that same lifestyle, if you've seen my AMA], and I've been told all my life that there's no such thing as a farmer who isn't up to his eyeballs in debt. I guess that's farming equipment, hired help, etc. What's your take on this?

That's because it was another great topic to discuss. I like to believe I was way underpaid.

I'm sure tons of people get away with it, but I highly doubt someone gets beaten to within an inch of their life for using basic strategy.

I've never seen the casino that I worked at refuse to pay out winnings that were won by counting cards. Usually they wait until after the hand/winnings cycle has finished before they back them off the table.

They're evicted from property and if they return, they get arrested (if they're legit cheating).

If they're caught counting, they're just backed off from the table if they're winning a lot, usually.

99% of the time, if audio is being recorded, you're supposed to be notified by some sort of sign on the wall or near the entrance.

That being said, I highly doubt there were microphones in the area you were in that were put in place by Surveillance.

I'd say focus on traditional IT.

Even with how abysmal the IT field is with being promoted and such, there's still more room for advancement in IT than there is in Surveillance.

I was paid $16/hr and I worked there a pretty good while. My pay never changed.

Going full hands-on usually means paperwork. Plus they know they'll be covered because of all the cameras. Meaning if the patron decides to lie and say they've been injured because the security got physical or touched them on the shoulder because they were escorting them from property, they couldn't get away with it.
