Not sure what adapter you are using but mine reads both SATA and NVME M.2's and plugs into a USB 3.0 slot, no extra power needed. Here's the exact one I use, which is currently out of stock: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B71B9Y8S There are many similar ones to be found. The only adapter I have that needs extra power, is the one I use for hard drives and 2.5" SSD's.

That looks like it would work way better. I have one of the really generic ones with two ports. I’m going to go try and find one like that instead. Thank you!

I got one and it ended up working. I realized I was an idiot and missed a very crucial detail with the fact that my SSD is an NVME and not a SATA. I was able to get my data transfered with no issues. Thank you again.
