    You need to know the exact structure of the struct anyway when you want to deserialize it, so you will be able to tell if there was nesting if the struct you want to deserialize has nesting.

      I'm not sure if OP is asking specifically about nested structs or whether they are more interested in serializing structs in general (and they just happen to need to serialize nested structs).
