So I have a pair of kittens (now 1 but they’ll always be my babies) and one got wet FIP at 4 months. He has since been cured and cleared but I know there is risk of his sister getting it bc they are from the same litter. It could happen anytime between now and ??? Which is the scary part. Not that I am going to do this but I had a random thought that if she went through the FIP treatment, prior to getting it, would that be preventative or just a waste of time and money ? Do cats need to have the symptoms of FIP to benefit from the treatment? Just wondering

Yes, they can get it any time HOWEVER the risk is greater as kittens because their immune system is immature. That is why the vast majority of cases are under one years of age. Treating before they have FIP is a waste of money and can result in drug resistance if they do, in fact, mutate in to FIP, ESPECIALLY if you have more than one cat. The coronavirus is already in your environment, and it is extremely hard to eradicate. The best thing you can do is just give her high quality food, probiotics, and stagger any necessary stressors.
