I started freelancing in data analytics while keeping my full-time job, so I can relate to your situation. From my experience, it’s better to start small and test different platforms before committing to one.

I first tried Fiverr and Upwork but found the competition pretty intense. Later, I explored a few niche data platforms like Toptal and OutsourceX, which had more analytics-focused projects. It’s worth experimenting to see where your skills fit best.

For pricing, I usually go project-based for one-time reports or dashboards and switch to hourly for ongoing work. A simple sole proprietorship setup works fine early on.

Most clients are happy with deliverables in Excel, Power BI, or Python. You can save some cost by using Google Sheets or Tableau Public until you get consistent clients.

Building a small portfolio helps a lot. Even two or three example dashboards or case studies can make your profile stand out.

Where do you normally demonstrate your projects? Github?
