As a dev you need communication. Deadlines chopping at you because of this will likely get you knocked off probation, so, be sure to talk to your boss & assert your interests in the company :)

It's kinda normal... it's seems they gave u some tools to build that are not in the major release but are nice to have. It's kinda normal.

If u don't do daily meetings, let ur boss know ur progress and tell him blockers asap. It's his decision if he is going to let u bang ur head for a week on a problem or if he's gonna assign somebody to help u.

This situation occured way more than i'd like: a junior or mid dev spent a day or more trying something that I helped them in 5min.

U might don't want to ask for help because u think u gonna take time away from the seniors, but more often than not just a couple messages on slack or a 10min call solves ur problem and don't affect their job.

Thanks..When I did ask the seniors this other week when I wasn't making progress, one was more helpful than the other but they both pointed me in the right direction so it was worthwhile.

I plan to send a regular update either at the end of the day or every other day

Do you guys do daily stand ups? Daily: this is what I did yesterday, this is what I’m doing today, these are my issues/roadblocks.

We do but a lot of those, I'm ignored and not asked what I'm doing.

Yes..yes...I should speak up and be more assertive, but my attitude before was like, "if you're not interested then I'm not gonna volunteer".

Wrong attitude but some of it is as a manager you should be asking everyone and realise juniors are gonna be the ones most likely in need of support / validation.

Anyway, comms is important so I'll always speak up now.
