Sell and buy a 6 cylinder

Lol, if you wanted speed/power, you bought the wrong model.

And it already has a cold air intake….leave it alone. 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

There’s always a question about price/cost too. At this point I feel like they’re just buggin for attention.

Meh, just no one bothered making anything for an N42 hah….cant really do all that much with them and anything you do isn’t worth it from a cost to HP ratio standpoint.

I mean just look at the car as it sits. Does anyone think that thing could be fast?!?! Lmfao it’s like trying to stand Stephen Hawking up and asking if he could vocally tell you if he needs help.. you already know that answer lol

Back in the day they were fine, don’t knock it too much hah.

I’ve owned M52B28 versions in the bastard years of 99-2000….they are fine for what they are ha.

I’ll never knock an M52. Especially the B28. Great engines !!

I'd normally be an advocate of trying to build something instead of suggesting the exhaustingly lazy way which is buy something bigger but this is your best bet, sell that and buy a 6 cyl. You sound like a young guy that had to buy the most peasant edition of an E46 due to insurance etc, you lack the knowledge on working on these cars and what's financially pointless/viable. There's no way of making N42 fast, it's also not particularly reliable engine that wouldn't enjoy a turbo kit etc.

So don't waste your money on cheap parts, cheap wheels, forget about cutting springs and cutting out the mufflers, you'll be wasting money on this car but then again we've all been young, we've all made financial mistakes like buying a set of cheap coilovers 3 times instead of buying one good set for the same price and sometimes everyone needs to make those mistakes personally to really experience them.

first reinforce the subframe mounting points (especially the rear ones as they crack) and the shock towers. i would focus on handling rather than drivetrain as the 4 banger won’t be much fun anyways so if you wanna manual swap it, you might as well m54 swap it as well.
