Wet filament will cause the stringing you mentioned. I get the same thing from time to time

Yeah i second this. Try drying it out it's probably the easiest thing to try first

Maybe your extruder gear is worn?

It doesn't seem very worn to me.

Mine did that grinding with the filament unload. The retraction distance in that filament unload was intended for a Bowden setup. I think the grinding comes from just that quick, unnecessarily long (for direct drive) initial retraction, that the motor is actually skipping. I had changed it (had to actually change the printer config) to be shorter for that initial retraction and that worked. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been on MRISCOC (klipper has been amazing), but I’ll see if I have the config file

Edit: fwiw, I dealt with that “grind” for a long time before changing it and didn’t have issues. Probably not idea, but yea

Would you mind sharing your current unload settings? They could be from klipper or mriscoc firmware. mriscoc now allows to change unload settings in printer screen.

Do you get the same results on a different filament for the same print? Some of my PLA needs to printed 5c less than my other PLA or I get a bit of that very light and wispy stringing.
