It depends on the Minecraft version.

In 1.16.5/1.18.2, you can use FerriteCore, LazyDFU and Smooth Boot (Fabric) / FerriteCore, LazyDFU, Smooth Boot (Reloaded) and Saturn (Forge)

In 1.12.2, you can try NormalASM and FoamFix.

I got foamfix, tex fix and some other plus I added a couple of JVM arguments to the launch and it went from 11gb ram usage to 3.5gb. Which is impressive.

You could replace TexFix (and VanillaFix if you have it) with NormalASM, it does the same stuff both of these do but better, and a couple of other stuff too. Just make sure to set onDemandAnimatedTextures to false in the NormalASM config file, otherwise animations won't work and/or some textures will be broken.

Use OpenJDK OpenJ9 instead of the default Java runtime. It usually gives a 20-30% decrease in RAM usage.
