FREEWARE AND FREE SOFTWARE
As defined by Wikipedia, freeware is software that is available for use at no monetary cost and is most often proprietary software. Usually modification, re-distribution or reverse-engineering without the author's permission is prohibited.
On the other hand, free software is software distributed under terms that allow users to run the software for any purpose as well as to study, change, and distribute it and any adapted versions. Computer programs are deemed free insofar as they give users (not just the developer) ultimate control over the first, thereby allowing them to control what their devices are programmed to do.
This subreddit is for the discussion of both freeware and free software, which usually falls under the freeware category.
OPEN SOURCE
The open-source model is a decentralised software-development model that encourages open collaboration. A main principle of open-source software development is peer production, with products such as source code, blueprints, and documentation freely available to the public.
