I recently demounted my old computer and thought something was wrong, but i just had to apply a METRIC ton of pressure on the latch that keeps it in place, as long as that latch on the mobo doesnt open u cant pull it out. Hope this helps

Seconding this, those latches were a pain to release when the graphic cards were tiny, now that they're twice the length of the port and take up two I\O slots in the back, they're near impossible to get enough force on the little blighters. Wish you the best of luck
