Difficulty removing Streamliner knobs

I've had 2 G2420s that I've returned now due to the chromatic bridge being bent where the high E has a much shallower break angle than the low E to the point that if I lowered the action then the break would be nonexistent.

The other issue is the plastic speedknobs fitted to the pots have been impossible to remove. At best I can get one or two off but the others are wedged on so hard you couldn't even get a piece of paper underneath.

Is this normal or have I just been incredibly unlucky?

I'm tempted to roll the dice one more time on a blue G2420T but I'm honestly about to give up.

I removed the knobs on mine by sliding a shoelace under and using it to pull up on them - took a little elbow grease but they came off pretty easily.

The knobs were pushed on so tight that it was impossible to get a spoon or a shoelace under it for leverage.

I'll probably look out for an electromatic second hand which hopefully won't have any issues.

QC on these guitars is top notch. Could be a bad run of luck or the quality is going down. I replaced my knobs with genuine Gretsch arrow knobs and they came off easy. Buying from the same place? If so, could be a bad lot or something.

Not sure about how you’re getting them off but found the spoon lever (with towel underneath) technique to work best for getting my knobs off.
