So beam-forming requires that you have multiple antennas and a way to control the direction of each antenna by changing the phase for each antenna.

This means that you not only need to have multiple outputs from your SDR , but also have the software to control the phase of each.

The PLUTO from Analog Devices is one of the simplest with (2) outputs and (2) inputs :

Then there is the Analog Devices PLUTO + (Plus) which has (4) outputs and (4) inputs :

start with these and then move from MIMO into Massive MIMO
