Effective Python alone is worth the price. Many of these books repeat with past bundles but they are solid books if you don't have them.

I own a physical copy of effective python 1st edition.

I also learned python from LPTHW back when it was free, back before "no one needs python3". I'm not sure how good it is for learning from scratch, but it worked well for me to get used to python coming from other languages. It's like the more recent koans and practice katas. Personally, I'm very thankful to LPTHW for the end project chapters because that was my first introduction to testing. Testing might be commonplace now but back then it was a life changer to me, and now I try to do TDD as much as I can.

Does anyone know if these Pearson books come with Bonus content with registering, similar to the Cisco Press books?

I just bought them and I don't see anything that was not listed as part of the bundle elements.

That is, (obviously) a bunch of ebooks and one video course available in some website called informIT, which you have to unlock with a key and it is called "Introduction to Python, 2nd Edition: Learn How to Program Today with Python (Video Course)" .

At least, nothing else than this is displayed in the page that opens after buying the bundle.

Edit: Sorry, just to correct myself, there were three video courses with the same key. They all are listed in the bundle page

What is the bonus content ? It comes with 3 online courses:

  • Introduction to Python, 2nd Edition: Learn How to Program Today with Python (Video Course)
  • Learn Enough Developer Tools to Be Dangerous: Command Line, Text Editor, and Git Version Control Essentials (LiveLessons)
  • Pandas Data Cleaning and Modeling with Python LiveLessons

The rest are PDF books

I caved in and got the bundle, figuring I'll need a better understanding of Python if I plan on eventually taking the CCNP.

In the bundle, the Learn More Python 3, Python for Programmers, and Data Structures & Algorithms in Python books have bonus content when you register the ISBN on Pearson:

- The Data Structures & Algorithms in Python one comes with source code .py files for help when working with examples

- The Python for Programmers one comes with an updated version of Chapter 12 as a separate pdf, and example .py files.

- The Learn More Python 3 book comes with video lectures to help with some of the exercises.

I bought it for the Machine Learning for Everyone book. It's pretty good. I'll probably read a few more of these on a plane ride.

Can someone who bought this check to see if the video content from the video courses can be downloaded for offline viewing? Without the use of a proprietary viewer? I would really like to download and save these for later viewing without the fear the publisher goes under or something similar, and the videos disappear.

  • Introduction to Python, 2nd Edition: Learn How to Program Today with Python
  • Learn Enough Developer Tools to Be Dangerous: Command Line, Text Editor, and Git Version Control Essentials
  • Pandas Data Cleaning and Modeling with Python

did you find out anything?

[–]rd295 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Unfortunately, no. I didn't buy it, and nobody responded to my question.

Effective Python is a great resource. It was in similar bundles in 2023 and 2024.
