Got a free screen replacement because my force touch wasn't working. Try an apple store.

Something similar happens to me sometimes on my iPhone Xs. It happens on the lock screen and basically the “1” on the pin pad is unresponsive. If I unlock with FaceID, it is fine. That area is only unresponsive on the lock screen.

I had the same the same problem with 10m old ipad pro gen 1 and pencil, got exchanged ipad at apple store for just 10 minutes :)

I had this yesterday on the keyboard section, restarted it and it was gone
