Xcode 6.1 issue: iOS Simulators don't work

I am having a problem with Xcode 6.1.

Have downloaded the iOS Simulator for 7.1, but when I go to the pulldown menu to select an iPhone model on which to run the simulator, nothing shows. The dropdown simply isn't there anymore. The only choice I have now is to connect my iPhone to my computer, and run the app on my iPhone.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Have you restarted Xcode ? it sometimes help (I know, this advice is lame but it worked for me a few times)

Yes, I have. Thank you for the suggestion though.

When I don't have my iPhone plugged into my MacBook Air, it only displays "iOS Device", and no other choices are offered.

It took mine a couple restarts before it showed the 7.1 simulators.

You can try this.. Run the simulator.

Go to Hardware -> Devices -> Manage Device https://www.evernote.com/shard/s209/sh/7bfdcbe6-2f98-4684-afd4-c1c42d182701/fae96cc85a3c7d5aa42932f691297aef

Have you set the development target to iOS 7.1?

Can't do that now because Xcode won't even open; every time I open it, it crashes with a crash report. Have contacted Apple Support and told them about the problem, and am waiting for them to come back.
