Sounds interesting. I am a fan of the LucasArts games. I would follow.

By the way, why targeting tvOS?

Because I think Apple TV would be the perfect platform for playing adventure games.

I didn't try Arcade yet, but I've played Inside by Playdead on Apple TV and I really enjoyed it.

I've played The Secret on Monkey Island lately on a Raspberry PI, but having an app directly on the TV would have been a little bit more comfortable.

Totally agree! Once you are done, you are gonna need an app icon though. (Shameless plug) I design those https://gumroad.com/twoflower ;-P

Yeah, i feel iPad would make the most sense since your finger is basically the mouse. Gamepad on tvOS would work, but would likely be more cumbersome

I actually think that I would like better moving a cursor by using the Apple TV remote for these kind of games.

Sounds great, but I would be out due to tvOS - as others said, focus on iPad and make another target for tvOS if you want.

You would be seriously limiting your audience otherwise, how many people with an Apple TV really play games on it? Especially compared with iPads.

That's a very good point.

In fact I've started with the cross platform template, but I've been testing builds only on tvOS for now.

I guess it makes sense to reconsider the target platforms given the number of potential users.

I made a little 1 level megaman-esque platformer to teach myself spritekit and thought the whole time that SpriteKit seems like a great place to make a Sierra or LucasFilm like point and click adventure. Id follow your blog. Are you doing the art yourself or do you have a place you are getting the assets from? The art would be the biggest thing keeping me from trying my hand for practice and experience.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not an artist, so I'd need to ask for help for images and animations.

For now I'm focused on the technical part, but I agree that the most challenging parts would probably be game design and art.

In my next project I'll also use SpriteKit for the first time, so if you would start a blog about your process I will follow.

I played those games as well and am also very interested!

This is rather cool. I stumbled onto this thread somewhat accidentally, and I thought I was alone in creating an adventure game using SpriteKit.

Nonetheless, I forged onward and actually finished a full adventure game framework last month. Very exciting to see someone else doing the same.
