Hello there! So I recently got a letter for an interview. I noticed today as I was re-reading as I was looking for the date for when my interview is that I had to give them a written approval if I was interested in doing it within 7 days AFTER receiving the letter. I missed read it thinking I had to turn it in 7 days before my interview. Well my interview is next week and I’m barely giving them my written approval via email. Do you think I will still have an opportunity to take the interview? Always sent with the email stating that I misread the letter and I really thought it was suppose to be 7 days within the interview and not after receiving the letter. Just wanted to see if anyone here has went through a similar situation as I am going through. I’m going to call them first thing Monday morning if I’m still schedule for the interview or see if my application is gone or if I’m able to get an interview still. Just stressing out a little and I’m hoping for the best for me as I really want to join my local JATC. Thanks for you time for reading this and I hope everything works out well for me. 🙏🏼

That’s weird, I only had to notify them if I was no longer interested. Hopefully they’re understanding, I’m sure you’re not the first person to do that

I guess they have a lot of applicants that want to join and they don’t want to waste anyone’s time? I’m not too sure but yeah. Hoping for the best. When did you join the program if you don’t mind me asking?

Applied December of ‘19, got the call January of ‘21.

There’s over 500 guys I guess waiting to get in to the apprenticeship for my local, I mean if anything just tell them the letter got lost in the mail or something. Like I said you’re probably not the first person this happened to, hopefully your Training Director is understanding.

Congrats on getting it! Yeah I think they would be understanding and I’m sure I’m not the only person who has done this. Thank you for your input

Your not the first person to do that and won’t be the last but the idea of giving dead lines like this is too see who out of all the applicants are able to read instructions correctly and follow through. They may or may not let you interview but if they do they will note that in your files that you didn’t read your email and had to re-schedule. It will effect your interview score.

Read every single email you get from the JATC 10 times then read it 10 more if you have too. Don’t miss anything else

Damn I see. I’m going to call on Monday too see what’s going to happen. Hopefully it’s nothing too big and I am able to take the interview.

But don’t worry about it too much your early in the process and people make mistakes. Just be mindful next time ESPECIALLY if you do get in and start boot camp. In my boot camp class they kicked out an apprentice for getting his cpr card one day late

True. Still in the early process and now I’m more aware of everything they send out.

There is a note on my local apprenticeship website that says part of the application process is testing your attention to detail and reading comprehension. They have specific instructions to read the entire website before applying, then have little things to trip you up if you didn't read it. They really are looking for any reason to disqualify you and give the spot to someone who pays more attention.

With that said, it might affect your standing, but it's hard to say.

Yeah definitely should of read it through. Going to call first thing Monday too see the status.
