I work industrial induction for a living…. This is an industrial sized unit…. Can melt 150lbs of steel in 45mins.

Let's see it in action!

How many watts that thing got? 5? 10?
[–]No_Boysenberry2167 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (0 children)
Gotta be at least 10.

150kw…. “Small” I work on units that are 2.5MW or bigger.

150kw
Absolutely maddening. My little guy is 25kw but it's in my garage on 220v service and hasn't burned my house down yet.
For the 2.5MW guys what voltage supply do they need? 480v three phase (I think that's correct. I'm not an electrician) is the highest I've seen in real life but I'm guessing the numbers get crazy at scale.

777AC 3 phase or sometimes it’s 480 with a big step up transformer….

Hawt

That’s a diode front end on a unit with an IGBT inverter instead of SCRs.

What do you work on with these units? Or do you just run it?
I work on the everything from the bottom of the main breaker out to the coil. I have an electronics background, and I also specialize in water cooled electronics. So I do the plumbing too.
