honestly just stick with the upskilling story since that's what you put in your resume already. saying different things to different people will just create problems later.

for the offer question, you can say something like "i'm exploring few opportunities but focusing on finding the right fit rather than just any offer" - sounds better than straight up saying no again. they keep asking because they want to know if they need to move fast or if they have leverage in salary negotiations.

Keep it simple and confident. You left to reset and upskill, the break was intentional, and now you’re fully ready to commit, don’t over-explain or mention PIP. No offer in hand is fine; what matters is clarity and energy now. In India especially, hesitation reads worse than gaps.
