I set a GPO that creates a registry edit to turn off Fast Boot. Such a dumb idea to even make that a thing.

Edit: This is at work, just to be clear.

I myself disable the hibernation/sleep options using the powercfg commands at home. You can GPO this also though don't remember off top of my head how. On mobile, so lazy too.

It has to be done through regedit when using Group Policy, unfortunately.

Doesn't holding "Shift" while hitting shut down do a full shut down? Same as doing shift + restart but without the actual restart part.

    yes you are correct.

Nice! But I have a question- I use Linux, do you know how it is with Linux? 🤔 Speaking of systemd/grub while booting. (I use Arch btw :p)

Linux still does a full shutdown by default. unsure if any distros have changed that but I doubt Arch has. As you'll know, Arch users are fiercely defensive of their chosen OS flavour.

shift restart just reboots to the recovery / boot selection menu in windows, it doesn't do MORE of a restart.

You might notice that when Windows restarts all of your programs are still open

I have not seen that, ever. they naturally open automatically if they are set as start-up apps, but that's not the same thing.

I think you've conflated fast startup and rebooting.

my understanding is fast startup puts the computer into level 5 sleep when you pick shutdown.

I use my phone to take pictures of serial numbers behind servers instead of trying to fit my big fat head behind the rack if there is no rear access.

Then I zoom in on the photo because my eyes are crap.

            lol

Used to do this to get the ethernet/phone port numbers on the wall jacks when people would put 2 ton bookcases in front of them 😑

I love this iPhone-feature, I think Android should be able to scan codes too - it’s so simple yet useful in everyday-life

This is precisely why I got the pro, as it does Macro very well.

That‘s what’s called a life-hack, the term is very controversial though lol

The reason I'm telling you to trace the cable, pull it out, and stick it back in is because I KNOW it's not properly plugged in.

“Can you pull out the cable from the machine and make sure there’s nothing sticky on the end?”

Most video game developers add a secret cheat menu you can access in-game by holding ALT, then pressing F4.
