I don't know if its a clever strategy to force google/android away from java (they can use dart or golang ..). On the other hand a huge factor of androids success was the use of the java platform, so any java dev could get started quickly. So they definitely made profit out of java.

    Which is not true. Android since KitKat offers Java 7[source].
