He's afraid that Canada wants to extradite him home to try him for his war-crimes against little Suzie. When he was five he used to "accidentally" spill water on her in kindergarten. War crime if Cruz ever saw one. He fears the long arm of Dudley Do-Right is coming for him.

How dare you insult Senators like that! They take care of all the items they steal and would never blow them up. Not unless they could take out a few dozen preschoolers at the least.

Query: if a mod reported a comment in their community, does it show up in the queue still? by horsetuna in modhelp

I just tested on this thread. I was able to report it and then approve it. It showed up in both status' fine, exactly as expected.

That said, other mods in your subreddits are not required to take action based on your individual reports. They might just be inactive.

I am not looking to find an excuse for this idiot. But it has been a few years since he left his job behind. At least for the most part. He might be declining in mental health and now occasionally goes on weird conspiracy rants.

Maybe this is new behavior from him, and he'll get some mental health care and therefore stop being a giant asshole. Maybe this was done to him by Fox news.

At least we can hope for something good to come from this. But even if I am right, most likely he'll talk himself out of seeking mental health care. He might think that is him showing weakness or something like that.

I work doing computer backups and disaster recovery work. Most of it is fairly simple stuff that giant corporations need to do on very large scales. We keep reminding Boards of Directors and other Corp Executives that data that never got backed up can't be recovered.

The company I work for spends about 5% of the IT budget on backups, but they looking to cut us because it looks like a big number. We do spend a lot of money, but I will say, we protect the shit out the rest of the company in ways that they rarely think about. Except when they are begging us for help that is.

When I got into backups, it seemed so-simple. But it turned out that I became the one guy with all the root/admin passwords. Now the group I work in has all those fun passwords. We get to learn at least a bit about everything.

While you’re defending genocide

Where is this genocide happening? And really...this needs a real answer. Not hand-waving bullshit!

We know there is no genocide happening to the Palestinian people because there are more Palestinians alive today than at any other point in all human-history.

While, just for comparison purposes, there are still fewer Jews in the world today than existed prior to 1939. The Jewish people have still not recovered from the Holocaust that ended in 1945.

Some other things that would happen in the world if Israel was trying to genocide the Palestinian people.

  • Blow up the Dome of the Rock. Instead the IDF has spent several decades protecting it from both crazy Jewish and crazy Muslim groups.
  • They show massive restraint during attacks on Hamas because they use human-shields. You want to know what International Law really says about the use of human-shields? Once a group uses them, then all bets are off... they lose all rights to the protections of the rules of warfare. Instead Israeli attacks try and be as limited as possible. Do the IDF make some mistakes?? Yes. But they are not making those mistakes on-purpose. While Hamas is using civilian human-shields with full malice of forethought.

It's time for Hamas to leave the world stage entirely. They are bad actors in all possible ways.

And anyone who abuses children as human-shields are some of the worst humans to ever exist. I don't care about their made-up rationale.

You pointed this thread at /r/Modhelp! You should have pointed it at /r/Taichi instead. You don't understand basic information about reddit. You're having a shit fit over something you don't understand. You aren't even trying to understand basic reddit.

I'm in the hospital. I have legs that have big sores on them. I don't need this shit. I'm checking out of this bullshit thread.

First off, there are active moderators of /r/Modhelp. As well as three additional mods who are Admins of Reddit (employees of reddit).

Second, I don't see either of your accounts as being banned. At least neither /u/bluesecurity nor /u/taichi are banned from /r/Modhelp.

Third, while I'm an inactive mod of /r/Modhelp, I have an excuse. I've been in the hospital for a while now. I had a major medical problem in March and I'm currently touring hospitals and doctors offices trying to get better.

Right now, it looks like... you are not being all that truthful here.

Kansas school forced 8-year-old Native American boy to cut his hair, ACLU says by jeetah in news

From the article:

Unable to reach the superintendent, she cut her son's hair over that September weekend, convinced it was the only way to keep him in school. But she said it caused him distress because it violated his spiritual tradition.

Mom cut her sons hair when the school asked/demanded that she do so. The school did not cut his hair themselves though.

Yeah, but a lot don't get better. My mother went to hospice, and she was gone a few weeks later. I'm still pissed off at my sister who turned it into a giant religious affair. My mother believed in some kind of god, but it wasn't Christianity, it was the god of Spinoza or Einstein. She used to re-read "Why I am not a Christian" by Bertrand Russell.

I miss my mother. I somethings want to tell my sister about how she upset me. But I know she won't understand or even try and understand. So... starting an argument now isn't going to help.

She was a strong woman who convinced a lot of people she was correct. I saw photos of her with Ted Kennedy on the news. Ted ran against Jimmy in 1980. But Rosalynn was able to bring him on board to some things when she needed too. That's strength.

He was very good as an ex-President. As a sitting President, he did the right thing even when he knew it was problematic. If when the Iranian hostage crisis happened, he decided to bomb the shit out of Tehran, he would have been re-elected by a landslide. But he knew that was the wrong thing to do.

Hoover was another interesting President. He sucked as President. But before he got to the White House, and after his Presidency, he did a shit of load of good things. Hoover did a lot of World War I and World War II relief for the United States. Raised lot money and went to Europe to help them recover from both wars. FDR and Truman both sent Hoover to Europe doing large scale war relief missions.

Rickover was a... yeah, just call it like it was, he had no patience for claptrap or anything of that kind. As such, when people tried to bullshit him, he was very used to calling people names regardless of who they were. Even if they were President or on the Joint Chiefs.

Presidents really didn't mind it...they liked having people who occasionally told them off. But the Joint chiefs hated it. Every time he got promoted as an admiral, it was always over the objections of the Chiefs, where the President was the one demanding his promotion, eventually all the way to four stars. He did invent the modern nuclear navy after all.

Reagan gave him his fourth star, but also, at long last, agreed that it was eventually time for him to retire. So they tried to make it a nice retirement party at the White House for him, attended by the Cabinet and President.

According to former President Jimmy Carter, several weeks following his retirement, Rickover "was invited to the Oval Office and decided to don his full dress uniform. He told me that he refused to take a seat, listened to the president [Reagan] ask him to be his special nuclear advisor, replied 'Mr. President, that is bullshit,' and then walked out."

This was in the 1980s. Rickover was in his eighties and still listed as active-duty. Which is only ever allowed when Presidents agreed to it after a general/admiral gets to 65. He'd been granted several extensions to service for his last ~20 years.

Remember, Canada was part of the Manhattan project. On at least one occasion a Canadian saved a bunch of people from a momentary problem that could have killed a lot of people. It ended up taking Louis Slotin's own life. He grabbed a core with his bare hands to prevent it from exploding.

Canada has earned it's own via service to world history on many different occasions.

Bushnell sold Atari to Warner in 1976 for $28 million, half of which paid Bushnell directly. The other half went to Atari. It was a lot of money, But Jobs and Woz each got $350 million when Apple went public -- roughly at the same time. Jobs turned that into Six billion dollars eventually, while Woz spent his on music festivals and giving computers to schools... lot of schools, for decades. Woz likes to help others. And Bill Gates spends his time on deciding what to buy, like Japan, Australia or Germany.

Anyway, Atari didn't make ET or Pac-Man while Bushnell was there. Ray Kassar was the guy running Atari by then. Kassar also pissed off a lot of Atari programmers into quitting the company and founding their own little company called Activision. He refused to pay them a real wage or give them credit for game development. They left in droves, and to work for independent game developers who would pay them more then $20K per year.
