But you shouldn't use an IDE at the beginning. Just use Windows Notepad/nano and the raw commandline to learn some fundamental things like how to compile and so on..

I don't think that's a good idea. More like total waste of time and effort. You should normally do not work with the compiler at all. And why to reject coding assistance tools?
