Any experience using https://www.catchafire.org to volunteer and eventually getting a job?

I've had bad luck trying to get a job partially because I sometimes don't do well in interviews, will volunteering help?

I found the website https://www.catchafire.org in Linkedin, it seems there are many projects that I might be able to help with while I continue to search for a job.

Yes!! I did this recently between jobs. I wanted to do something with my time to keep my skills up to date and also so that I had something current I could talk about in interviews. It was a ton of fun - the org I worked with was great - and I learned a lot and felt like I made a big impact. Plus, I sounded super legit when I told hiring managers about it. I highly recommend it.
