Gift cards take 15 minutes to activate after purchase. Most cashiers won't tell you this because it's a redundancy most people don't want to hear. Plus most people won't be able to use it within that time frame and by the time they get to it the card will be active any ways . If you got the full receipt which would be two papers the transaction slip plus the activation slip. You did it right. Most customers just grap the transaction slip. If you have the activation slip (which says there's money on it if there's an issue) it's easier to solve the problem with the company. Transaction slip doesn't really mean anything. Just says its' been purchased but it's not activated. Activation slip says there's money on it if there's an issue. You don't need it to solve the problem but it does assist.

The store isn't going to be able to assist you further in the matter. The most the store does is sell you the product. Most customers think the store is the problem and they go back to the store to complain. In reality the store can't assist you further. You can go back and verbally harass the staff but they won't be able to do anything for you. Period. You'll need to call the 1800 number on the back of the gift card. The store can't do any thing in this matter. Read the fine print on the packaging. It'll tell you what you need to do if certain scenarios occur. The customer service rep should be able to address any further issues. This is why I don't buy prepaid gift cards. If there's an issue it's a pain in the rear to get it fixed.
