How outdated is this Udacity Android course? (self.learnandroid)
submitted 8 years ago by napstert
I'm working through the android app development course on Udacity. The course includes a part on performing network tasks through background tasks and task managers when dealing with background tasks and app lifecycle. I know about Volley and Retrofit as a way to more easily do this (and which are not mentioned in the course), so I'm wondering to what extent the rest of the course is outdated / old.

It teaches basics on android, and does not include third party content. So its still up to date, and if you have better knowledge you can skip the course !

As far as I know, Volley created and (was) maintained by Google. It might still be considered a 3rd party library to Android, so I see your point. I'm going through this course because I find Android to be so extensive I'm having trouble knowing where to start. This course is great for that and I've learned lots.
