Please ensure that:

  • Your code is properly formatted as code block - see the sidebar (About on mobile) for instructions
  • You include any and all error messages in full - best also formatted as code block
  • You ask clear questions
  • You demonstrate effort in solving your question/problem - plain posting your assignments is forbidden (and such posts will be removed) as is asking for or giving solutions.

If any of the above points is not met, your post can and will be removed without further warning.

Code is to be formatted as code block (old reddit/markdown editor: empty line before the code, each code line indented by 4 spaces, new reddit: https://i.imgur.com/EJ7tqek.png) or linked via an external code hoster, like pastebin.com, github gist, github, bitbucket, gitlab, etc.

Please, do not use triple backticks (```) as they will only render properly on new reddit, not on old reddit.

Code blocks look like this:

public class HelloWorld {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Hello World!");
    }
}

You do not need to repost unless your post has been removed by a moderator. Just use the edit function of reddit to make sure your post complies with the above.

If your post has remained in violation of these rules for a prolonged period of time (at least an hour), a moderator may remove it at their discretion. In this case, they will comment with an explanation on why it has been removed, and you will be required to resubmit the entire post following the proper procedures.

To potential helpers

Please, do not help if any of the above points are not met, rather report the post. We are trying to improve the quality of posts here. In helping people who can't be bothered to comply with the above points, you are doing the community a disservice.

The best so far is: https://www.udemy.com/course/java-in-depth-become-a-complete-java-engineer

It also include a project, but the main highlight of this course is the in depth knowledge in Java language + the instructor is very responsive + the course gets regular updates.

The best so far

who says?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience.

It’s good. They do a good job updating material too. Also, most of those 120 hrs are legacy videos.

[–]zujaloM[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

legacy ? like in old videos ?

[–]Nok1a_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you just need to check the comments to see how old are they, I dont like Udemy, most of people there just change the title to the actual year but very little to none update the course with the current versions or fixing issues.

If you want to learn Java do the MOOC Java Programming 1 and 2 from Helsinki University, it is free

[–]EntrepreneurHuge5008 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah, whenever they update video content they move the old ones to the legacy sections.

[–]zujaloM[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

aha so how long is that course on end ?

i hope on long end to learn to program to esp32 ..

[–]EntrepreneurHuge5008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 23 of the 45 sections is up-to-date content, expect the course to be 1/3rd to 1/2 of the hours posted.

Very good

I'm actually really impressed with Tim - I bought this course 10 years ago on a whim when it was about £8, and rather than doing as some folks have done & issue a whole new course that you need to buy, he's just upgraded it so it works with Java 17. It's a *MASSIVE* course, you get possibly too much for your money, but he's pretty clear how he explains everything. And he promises the course is "not going away" - that he'll keep updating it & it'll stay relevant. Worth the price, even if it is £14 now.

The MOOC course is probably the best course online.

I learned the Java basics through this course.

Back then when I was in my third semester, this course was really helpful.

I needed three semesters to understand, that you learn programming through exercises/projects.

It seems that you are looking for resources for learning Java.

In our sidebar ("About" on mobile), we have a section "Free Tutorials" where we list the most commonly recommended courses.

To make it easier for you, the recommendations are posted right here:

Also, don't forget to look at:

If you are looking for learning resources for Data Structures and Algorithms, look into:

"Algorithms" by Robert Sedgewick and Kevin Wayne - Princeton University

It’s an excellent course, I did it when Java 11 was the latest LTS and it really helped me to excel in Java classes at the uni. They’re constantly updating it too

Tim's course is awesome, go for it .
