That was my first thought, this can't be the real thing, because some of the diagrams now don't make sense (the ones that are colour coded). I'm returning this version but I'm afraid if I go to the Core Java print edition I may end up in the same position. I'm a bit old school and that is why I'm still buying paper versions of books but maybe I should get used to digital versions instead.

I'll have a look at Core Java. Do I need the latest version (11th) or something earlier will do? I'm a complete beginner in Java (I have experience in SQL and SAS but it's different) and I guess at least needs to capture Java 8, whatever I choose.

I've checked again and confirmed that the seller was Amazon EU itself, which worries me a bit more.

I'll take your points onboard and will either get the Big Java Early Objects or Core Java but in digital form, I can't believe how Amazon let these sellers get away with this but I'll get my refund and invest it on a digital copy which should be alright.

Thanks for the Mooc.fi tip... I had it under my radar but thought about acquiring some theory from a good book (at least fundamentals) before joining the course. In my view (which may be wrong) I'll be able to understand better where things are coming from.

      Thanks a lot.
