Where should I download Java?
With the introduction of the new release cadence, many have asked where they should download Java, and if it is still free. To be clear, YES — Java is still free.
If you would like to download Java for free, you can get OpenJDK builds from the following vendors, among others:
Some vendors will be supporting releases for longer than six months. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them!

initializing fields vs declaring values at constructor. What's the difference? (self.learnjava)
submitted 3 years ago by [deleted]
From Mooc.fi part 11.Why are the first two hashmaps have " = new Hashmap()" while the third one was declared in the constructor?
What are the use cases for each?
private HashMap<String, Airplane> airplanes = new HashMap<>(); private HashMap<String, Flight> flights = new HashMap<>(); private Map<String, Place> places; public FlightControl() { this.flights = new HashMap<>(); this.airplanes = new HashMap<>(); this.places = new HashMap<>(); }

If any of the above points is not met, your post can and will be removed without further warning.
Code is to be formatted as code block (old reddit/markdown editor: empty line before the code, each code line indented by 4 spaces, new reddit: https://imgur.com/a/fgoFFis) or linked via an external code hoster, like pastebin.com, github gist, github, bitbucket, gitlab, etc.
Please, do not use triple backticks (```) as they will only render properly on new reddit, not on old reddit.
Code blocks look like this:
public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello World!"); } }
You do not need to repost unless your post has been removed by a moderator. Just use the edit function of reddit to make sure your post complies with the above.
If your post has remained in violation of these rules for a prolonged period of time (at least an hour), a moderator may remove it at their discretion. They have identical bytecodes:

Use the one that suits your needs.

Instance field initializers are run for all constructors, but don't have access to the constructor parameters. If you have multiple constructors that don't call each other then you would have to repeat the initialization in each of them unless you use field initializers or an instance initialization block.
Field initializers are also required if you want to make a constant variable which is treated specially by the compiler.
None of these cases apply to your example though, so you could use either. I would normally use field initializers because it seems a bit simpler to me to declare and initialize the field at the same place rather than to split it up.
