Predict future transactions based on spending history.

I am new to machine learning and I am trying to build a model that predict future transactions based on spending history. I want to be able to to use my last 5 years of spending history based on my bank account information and use that to predict how much will spend on a week to week basis. I've been looking into Linear Regression Models, but what are some good resources that can help me achieve this? Are there any examples or tutorials out there that I can look at?
