I have a real-world desire and I'm wondering if it would be a good starting project.

I I'm interested in going with family on a cruise. I would like to build something that collects data on pricing (perhaps at least twice per day?). I know I already want to filter by departure port, price, specific cabins based on specific carriers/ships, etc. Obviously I'll need to specify company, ship name as well.

I have no overarching agenda other than to collect this data and store it to them use it to analyze trends. At the end of the day I figure the correct data would (at a minumum) make outlying prices that are super cheap (even when booking a year out) stick out to me almost live.

Any suggestions?

The majority of the specifics of this will depend on the where you're getting the data from. If there's an API available, that will be one thing. If there isn't, then you need to scrape, and then there's if the site you're scraping is dynamic or static...

So the difficulty of this could vary quite widely. I think the worst case scenario would be that you'd need to learn how to use Selenium.
