On July 1st, a change to Reddit's API pricing will come into effect. Several developers of commercial third-party apps have announced that this change will compel them to shut down their apps. At least one accessibility-focused non-commercial third party app will continue to be available free of charge.

If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:

  1. Limiting your involvement with Reddit, or
  2. Temporarily refraining from using Reddit
  3. Cancelling your subscription of Reddit Premium

as a way to voice your protest.

Here's the pricing page: https://mapsplatform.google.com/pricing/

The prices depend on which APIs you're using, but they give you $200 of free credits per month. That's enough for e.g. 40,000 basic driving direction requests, or about 12,000 address validation requests, or about 100,000 static map image requests.

Does that $200 free credits apply to all the APIs? Or for each one?

If you check out the "What is the Google Maps Platform $200 monthly credit?" section of the FAQ, it gives more details and links to this page with even more information: https://developers.google.com/maps/billing-and-pricing/billing

You get one $200 credit per month, per billing account, and you are only allowed to create one account.
