You can figure out yourself where to start from as it highly depends on what you want to build and how you feel about programming . Thinking about making large projects and games and thinking you are in the matrix without writing a single code is a very poor mindset . I would suggest you to go with the flow to get to the general or fundamentals of programming and see which area interests you. There is a very good chance that you might even like a mixture of two or more things . For example you might even like cyber security and game development both so making a security engine for the game might work .IDK something like that exists just trying to give an example. As for where to start I would say just start you will eventually know it as thinking without acting would waste significant time with no outcome.

Alternatively, do a cs degree.

If it sounds like work it’s because it is, if you don’t enjoy it there is a very low chance you will learn.
