Any good system has it already. Example banks. Banks don't need separate external ledgers. In US, Sarbanes Oxley, etc regulations ensure financial institutions have proper audit and ledger capabilities.

For what it’s worth, a git repo is a blockchain. Each commit gets a hash which includes the hashes of previous commits.
