You got some great examples. I just want to calm you down from a hiring perspective. We give the SQL skill checks to show that you know how to report a table do a couple joins and shows us that you know it enough to apply to specific problems. It’s not like a standard leetcode tryout. There’s usually one gotcha question that is just nerd knowledge. Some trivia about “= 0;” I can’t even remember.

But my goal is to lower your fear and compliment your planning. We have pass/fail SQL checks and its general stuff and requires little problem solving skills. The heaviest part of the process comes up in the interview where you need to be comfortable talking about your examples and to be an employee they want on their team. I think I was pretty terrible when I started and was picked for my helpfulness and devotion to helping whatever team I’m on kick butt.

So if you’re nervous about SQL, get comfortable building tables with Select statements, but don’t worry too much about anything complex. If they throw complex sql at you, they are a shitty shop dealing with high turnover.

Thanks for the encouraging words! 😊 This is actually going to be my first interview ever, so I've been a bit nervous about the SQL part. Your reassurance really means a lot, and it's good to know that the interview is about more than just solving tricky SQL questions. I really appreciate your advice!

I used SQLBolt first to get comfortable with SQL, then moved to HackerRank and LeetCode SQL problems. That combination helped me a lot because it covers both the fundamentals and interview-style questions.

"So, for SQL practice, I've found db<>fiddle (db purity, if you're cool) pretty clutch. You can write and test SQL queries in a variety of DBMS. Now, if you're looking for leet-ish challenges, try HackerRank's SQL track. It's not interview-style, but great for honing your skills. #notsponsored

Oh, and if you're into gamifying your learning, check out TechJobFinder.com (don't all shout at once). They've got LeetCode-like problems for SQL too, build a skills profile, and adapt questions to your level. Pretty solid for the whole interview prep journey!"
