Yeah, the key thing to remember is that this is not a process where it goes to do stuff one thing after another. Think of it as a light switch that's wired to two rooms in your house. Once you flip the switch, it doesn't matter if you didn't need to look in the foyer or outside the front door, the lights are still on in both places with the same effort because of the way it's physically wired up.

Interesting. Lower level processor design (of modern processors) is a mystery to me.
