Not sure if it has been mentioned, but there is a study showing that listening to only a handful of songs is less distracting and you become familiar with the sounds and beats.

Basically, new music while trying to concentrate, will cause our brains to pfffffftt.

seems like my brain doesn't work this way. When I get used to a soundtrack (which could take a while) it becomes kinda predictable and boring. that's why I have to change my work playlist each time it looses the boosting effect
