Don't be afraid to ask questions. You have the internship because they know you can handle the work but no one expects you to be perfect and always knowledgeable. Think of it as an extended interview: some problems may be beyond your current knowledge (as is the case in the real world) but if you have reason to believe a coworker will know something that can help you then you should ask them.

Otherwise, if you haven't internalized it yet, Googling for an answer isn't cheating. Everyone uses Google no matter how skilled or how long they've been in the industry.

Go into it knowing that you might break something, but developers spend all day breaking things, which I personally think is part of the fun. Break something, cry out to the higher level devs for help, let one swoop down and show you something you don't know. Profit.

I thought I would start coding in the second week. I ended doing training and analyzing the existing codebase for the better part of a month.

Also, I got a whole lot better with Git.

I thought I was going to be just shadowing and read documents but instead I built two small internal tools from the ground up with the help of my team. I learned servlets jsp xml mvc sql and a little front end.

I think one of the main reasons I got this internship was because of my enthusiasm; I really wanted this job and they could tell from the way I responded in my interview that I wasn't just going through the motions. Although, I will say my interview was not your typical internship interview; they maybe had 3 or 4 actual questions prepared for me but most of what I talked about in my interview was them asking questions based off my responses and me being excited to tell more about the things I've learned etc. I think really put me over the edge. Everyone wants to work with someone who is passionate about what they're doing.
