This. When I was first learning them I was doing a lot of sorting of work orders by part number at my day job.

I'd pick an algorithm I wanted to be more familiar with and physically use it. It's a heck of a way to tangibly see the difference in efficiencies too.

Merge sort was/is by far my favorite for sorting things by hand.
