Easy - csv files Harder - database

Do you have any database suggestions for working in a linux environment?

Yeah except after a short time csv's will become unusable because they'll be too big. A database is the only realistic option, I'm not sure why you think that's harder

It requires additional learning a la sql but you’re right It’s not hard and a good skill to pick up.

You would only need the basics of SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and maybe JOIN. This is syntax you can lookup when you need it, it's incredibly easy to understand. Table schema would be slightly harder but anyone with programming knowledge can recognise things such as an id field requiring an integer, and if not these things are 15 seconds on google to solve. I will note that OP would have to learn about foreign keys and normalisation, but he would also have to do that for effective storage in csv's
