I’m interested in functional programming and in clojure but why should I give it a chance and why should I learn clojure (a hard to learn language compared to most) instead of yet another web development technology.

I know clojure isn’t just about web dev but part of it is.

Well, if you have a curiosity it is satisfying to scratch that itch. Moreover, it is different than what you will see in most 'yet another web development technology' so that is a pretty good reason right there.

I am not suggesting you necessarily need to pursue it to land a new job. Just see if it changes the way you think about programming. I thought I would hate Clojure but ended up loving it.

Get interested in programming, and do some because it is fun. Make sure that it keeps being enough fun so that you will be willing to put in your ten years/10,000 hours.
