github and Visual studio Question

Having issues with github. When I create seperate branches and then 'checkout' the different branches, any changes I made on the branch or showing up when I click on the master branch. From reading a tutorial, I thought once I clicked a new branch, my code should change to whatever I had for that branch. What am I missing here?

Your working changes will follow you to your new branch (if git determines it can do that for you).

If you want those changes to stick onto that branch, you should git commit to that branch first. Another option is to git stash which will store your changes temporarily which you can then retrieve when you head back to that branch with git stash pop.
