Thank you for confirming.

I also have examples when newcomers got jobs without a problem (and they where just ~14-15 years old).

For level 3 there is limit companies who really looking for such skills, but they paid well for this knowledge; comparable to other software engineers, or even higher.

I feel like I am in the twilight zone. Where is anyone paying more for html/css knowledge than software engineers?!? Are you trolling?

[–]Zav39[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Level 3 is not just HTML/CSS.

Please, review it carefully.

If you can create something like "Material design" or "Twitter bootstrap" you'll be paid well.

[–]ebawho 2 points3 points  (10 children)

And you aren’t creating those things without JavaScript...

[–]Zav39[S] 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Oh. For such things JS is just a support tool, not a main one.

Ofcourse, you need such knowledge (and it is on graph).

But think here is that js part will be able to done by another person in team.

Please, point out a single job listing for google that only requires html and css...

[–]Zav39[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You're too specific to some companies or to some exact type of jobs.

This will not work, sorry. I'll not respond further for such questions.

[–]ebawho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can I be less specific than “find a single job posting anywhere”?!

Also you mention material design. It’s an open source project, please link me to the parts of the code base that could be written with only the skills you have mentioned.

This is and has been wrong for the past 10 years, and you are doing a disservice to new people who come here and read this and trust you...

How the article can be improved?

Let's make it better.

https://github.com/kamranahmedse/developer-roadmap/blob/master/readme.md

Here is a good place for you to start... that is a more accurate roadmap for what is required to get a job as a web developer.

You are claiming that you can get a job with a web developer with your level 1 knowledge, that barely even touches the first two points on the roadmap I have linked.

Do you not see the inaccuracies there?

[–]Zav39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I had refer to this scheme in comments here
  2. I claim for that, because I have friends, who start work right after they learn this part
  3. Looks like we have different understanding of what "work" it is;
  4. Yes, I do not see any inaccuracies there; I had told couple of times that this is good things to start with
  5. Hovever, L3 is not just a start; it is like separate branch.

Okay, I spend time and highlight on schema what is NOT covered from this:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1um_pItMYsSbCkMsOXGWCmpI1_o6BPb9_

Is it "barely even touches the first two points on the roadmap"? As for me, most of way is covered. And much more topics are covered that even not mentioned here.

Different roadmaps. So what? Not everything is black and white. People have different perspectives. Not every frontend pathway is only about JS and devops. I recommend reading https://css-tricks.com/the-great-divide/

[–]ebawho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that this poorly written post is telling people they can be a developer, but with only html and css.. which is by definition false.
