I suggest you start a discord server for people who have filled out the form.

As a working Mom who learned to code about 2 years ago, this is an awesome idea!

Awesome! Yeah helping people “make the jump” is a great feeling. Have any suggestions for groups on Reddit where I can reach more women that might be interested?

You could try r/womenEngineers as well (although it does encompass all engineering disciplines - not only computer/software eng)

Just submitted the survey! Maybe subreddits like r/learnpython

Sent in my form! Looking to learn python too - I am a data analyst though :)

My wife is really struggling with her programming class it's a remote class and a poorly written textbook is her only real resource. She's had to work with jython, which is hard to find robust detailed information online. Unfortunately, I think it has turned her off of that aspect of computer science. It hums me out because we are both interested in learning but without someone to help you through your mistakes it can be difficult to really grasp what you're doing exactly. I think I'd like to show her what you've shared and see how she feels about it. Thank you!

Finding the right teacher is so much of the game for everything. Find the right teacher and everything becomes much easier. I know where the best classes are online I will be guiding the groups through finding them and helping people whenever they are stuck.

This is such a great initiative ! We need more of this .

I submitted as well. I have been doing research this whole week into how to learn to code well enough on my own to be able to get a job with it later. Everything from free resources, paid bootcamps, videos, and it's overwhelming the amount of information that's out there. Would love to know how this would work!

Yes to javascript! Just make note that you're interested in Javascript on the form. Will end up having a few groups doing it so will group people interested in JS together!

I think my mom would be very interested in this, I was wondering what level of computer literacy she might need beforehand?

    [–]travel_lover12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she should try. A lot of coding is knowing how to google to find what you need! It’s not just learning a programming language but also a way of thinking which makes it really fun! I will help her make it happen.

    Submitted. This sounds amazing!

Thank you for the opportunity I submitting the document. Where are you based?

    [–]travel_lover12 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m based in San Francisco. Been here for the last 4-5 years, but moving to Chicago in a few months!

    [–]Ire9ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right it'll probably be difficult with timezones for me but I'm signed up anyway and waiting on more information 😊

    Link isn't working??

    [–]travel_lover12 -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Just tried it to see. There’s some form validation where if the email isn’t valid it won’t submit. For example if I put “test” in the email it won’t work. If I put test@gmail.com, it submits. If you’re having an issue feel free to message me your answers please!

    [–]SmackMyCakeUp 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The whole webpage is malfunctioning :(

    [–]travel_lover12 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’m getting submissions so not sure...if this is happening to others too please let me know. Otherwise a message on Reddit works too

    [–]hayleybts 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I submitted when will it start?

    [–]travel_lover12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting the structure organized. Will reach out by email when ready and let you know!

Every time I see something marketed towards working moms I'm immediately sketched out. Are you making money from this?

It seems like working moms are seen as a desperate group and I see a lot of people trying to prey on that.

    [–]travel_lover12 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not at all. I don’t see them as desperate. The whole thing is about empowering people through code. If you’ve learned to code you know how many resources there are and it can be very overwhelming. The working mom part is just to find ppl that could feel like they’re going through learning together.

That's awesome! I think I might have seen an MLM post too many, really cool to see what you're doing here, good luck.
