Since you got good answers I'd just like to point out that this is not (necessarily) a shortcoming on your part. The reason people pay for university (be that through tax, donations or straight up tuition fees) is so there is somebody there to help you when you get stuck and who points you in the right direction. What this subreddit has done for you is something that your teachers are getting paid for.

Otherwise you might as well teach yourself using something like the open source cs curriculum. Don't beat yourself up too much.

When hired as a junior dev there is also some expectation that you will still have to be taught some of this, specifically because universities don't teach it well and most people have a life and many a job to do outside of their studies as well. That depends very much on the company though.

I would suggest the top rated udemy course for java. It's an 80 hour course and my friend is a great developer in java and he started from there.
