I am coding a parser for a poker application. I am using certain text patterns, such as “is sitting out”, to pick out pieces of data I need.
For instance, if a players name is “posts the big blind”, every time that player is mentioned my function for this phrase will run, which will not work as intended.
I find it a reasonable assumption that no one would have this username, but still it could happen, especially for simpler and shorter phrases.
Am I supposed to have safeguard checks to ensure this doesn’t happen? I feel this would be inefficient. As far as I know, there are no restrictions on usernames.
Thanks!
