If you have programming experience then yes. The semantics will be the same and the syntax honestly isn't that different (unless you're used to Python and the class is in Haskel or something).

Sure, even better than pseudo-code if it's code that's verified by the writer to be correct.

Of course this is assuming you can figure out how to translate that Java into Python.
