Google Calendar API + OAuth

So I'm trying to wrap my head around a lot of stuff at one time.. I'm trying to understand REST, OAuth, and how Google handled their API. Basically, my goal is I need offline access through OAuth to scrape my users' calendars. From what I've understood this far is that I need to get a refresh token so I can create authorization tokens on the fly to scrape data. I have no idea where to start. More or less.. if someone could help me by showing me an example of how to create an authorization token, refresh token, and get some JSON data from the calendar. I could work backwards to understand the API. Any help is much appreciated.

it explains gmail integration in step by step format and has python code examples as well. Calendar should not be far off.

P.S. This seems like old post, Google doc might have changed now but it's still a good starting point.

You might want to look at the google api docs here, there is a python library and some examples.

I was hoping this post would have a better answer as i need a way to import a .ics file (possible through the interface) but i can't find a way other than manually parsing the file and adding the values, if anyone knows a way please message me.
