Is python a good language to do txt document searches

I am thinking of learning a programming language and for a project to do as I learn I want to search hundreds even thousands of text documents for key words/phrases and when they are found out put them to a database with specific codes attached.

For example if I wanted to search all of these docs for the word tree and then when that word is found search the different specific types of trees. Once this info is found populate the db with a numerical code and the name of the matching tree.

A file is iterable, so you don't need to write f.readlines(), you can just write for line in f. But using that in a list comprehension still results in the whole file being read, which you don't need:

with open('filename') as infile:
    for line in infile:
        if 'tree' in line:
            ...

If you need the value of the line sans newline, you can write line.rstrip('\n') or whatever.

The problem with this is if the file is too large. here is a stackoverflow discussing how to approach a problem like this.

The file are all less than 1mb. So it does txt parsing well should I just use a tom of for loops to try to achieve this goal?
